Normal Butanol

Normal butanol is an organic compound of the family of alcohols. Normal butanol is naturally produced from fermented sugar and carbohydrates. From normal butanol applications, the production of polymers, pharmaceuticals, plastic pyroxylin, herbicide esters and butyl cellulose can be mentioned.

Normal butanol or n-butanol (sometimes biobutanol) is a type I alcohol with a structure of 4 carbon atoms and a chemical formula C4H10O. Normal butanol is one of the fossil alcohols (fermented fruits obtained by alcohol), which has more than two carbon atoms and is completely soluble in water. Normal butanol is naturally produced from fermented sugar and carbohydrates. It is used in many countries instead of food stuffing. The most common application of butanol is the chemical substance, especially in butyl acetate (a natural and solvent essential oil). Normal Butanol is a petrochemical product obtained from propylene. Uses: Normal butanol is an intermediate agent in the manufacture of butyl acrylate, butylated acetate, dibutyl phthalate, dibutyl dibutyl acetate and other butylated esters as well as butyl ethers such as ethylene glycol mono-butyl ether, di and tert-ethylene glycol mono-butyl ether and other butyl ethers. Other uses include the production of polymers, pharmaceutical materials, pyroxylin plastics, herbicide esters and butyl cellulose. Normal butanol is used as a perfume additive and also solvent in the extraction of certain oils.

Production methods:

Normal butanol or n-butane in the industry produce propylene. Hydropharmyl propylene is obtained in the presence of a homogeneous rhodium base catalyst, which is similar to the Wilson catalyst, butyraldehyde. Of the butyraldehyde hydrogenation of normal butanol is produced.

Safety Information:

In the case of normal contact with butanol, it stimulates the eye, causing corneal irritation in the acute cases and blurred vision. Eating it causes confusion and imbalance. Normal butanol is flammable and blends into the air at more than 29 ° C.
